At the end of Key Stage 2, the following will be reported. The number of pupils:
- who can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
- who can use range of strokes effectively
- who can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
At Manor Junior School, pupils have historically gone swimming in Year 3 and then again in Year 4. From our end of key stage 2 assessment of the number of children who can perform basic water safety and swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres it is clear that this programme has been unsuccessful. We are currently reviewing our swimming provision for the forthcoming academic year.
