About Us

May I offer you a very warm welcome to Manor Junior School, a 7-11 community school in Barking in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The school was built in 1930 and has been serving the families of the Leftley Estate and the surrounding areas for over eighty years.

We are proud of our heritage and beautiful 1930s building, however we are a forward thinking school, and live up to our community values in all we do.

We remember our values using the acronym ERIC. They are:

  • Enthusiasm
  • Respect
  • Inclusion
  • Challenge

These values are integral to the adults and children’s everyday experiences and guide all we do.

We also have a mission statement, that uses the initial letters of Manor Junior School:

Motivation Joy and Success!

At Manor Junior School we have a dedicated team of professionals who inspire and motivate all children to be the best that they can be. When your child is in one of our classrooms they will be learning from a highly committed professional, who takes part in regular and reflective training. Children are taught through inspirational teaching and learning activities and apply their literacy and numeracy skills across our newly launched integrated curriculum.

A positive relationship between families and school is vital in supporting a child’s journey, here at Manor Junior School, you will find an approachable and professional team. We welcome informal discussions with families and carers but understand that many of our parents will have busy working lives, therefore we have introduced a formal six weekly report card from class teachers on your child’s attainment, progress and attendance and their targets. The school also provides formal, termly meetings with the class teacher.

The atmosphere around our school is purposeful. Each year group is made up of five classes and led by a senior member of staff who is accountable for challenge, standards, and progress in their year group.

I hope that our website will provide answers to any questions you may have, but if you require further information please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We welcome visitors and are very happy to meet with you, show you around our vibrant school and answer any questions you might have.

Best wishes,

Clare D’Netto
